The Island

Sint Maarten is a 37 square mile Island, and is Affectionately referred my many as the Friendly Island. Sint Maarten, Saint Martin is an Island divided into a Dutch side of 16 square miles and French side of 21 square miles, this goes back to our unique history in 1817 when trying to resolve dividing and giving the Dutch and French their share of square miles.

Sint Maarten offers a variety of amazing Restaurants with fine cuisine choices. Sint Maarten/Saint Martin is the Shopping Haven of the Caribbean known for its Duty Free Liquor, jewelry stores, local art and crafts and affordable electronics. Philipsburg the capital of the Dutch side of the island and Marigot the capital of the French Side of the Island is where all the shopping takes place. The Dutch side is known for its affordable Jewelry stores, Electronic stores and Perfume Stores. The French side is known for its name brand stores such as; Versace, Max Mara, Armani, and many more fine stores. The currencies used on both sides of the island are the US Dollar, Antillean Guilder (1.823) and Euro (1.10).

And, as for our culture St. Maarten is considered a multi cultural island with over 80 different nationalities. The languages mostly spoken on the island is English, Dutch, French, and Spanish.
