“Article 58 of Law no. 2009-59-4 of May 27th 2009, is applicable to persons of foreign nationality who wish to celebrate their marriage in an overseas “French” community or in New Caledonia.  The provision established releases the stakeholders from the obligation of a term of residence of, at least a month, in the district of celebration, imposed by article 74 of the Civil Code.”

This new possibility not only opens the door for foreign couples to tie the knot on a French territory or the increase of revenue for different sector of the entire island but the opportunity for a more exciting “Destination Wedding Adventure”

Sint Martin/ St. Maarten is indeed a sumptuous island divided between two countries for over 350 years now.
